Kimolos, Love At First Sight

Kimolos is one of the least popular islands in the Aegean region. Although it is small and quiet, it is an exquisitely beautiful place. It has a small port and the waters around the island are vivid turquoise-green. When walking around, the visitor can see the houses standing in shades of blue and white while the tranquility of the scenery can have a soothing effect on anyone.

Kimolos has no Hora, like most of the other islands in the Aegean. There is a main village and all the roads literally lead there. Quite impressive is the fact that when heading to the town, a person can discover a different way to get there every time. In the central square of Kampos, there is not a direct view to the sea and this is probably the only negative thing one can say about this Cycladic island. private yachting On the other hand, everything is simple, picturesque and beautiful, with houses with courtyards full of blossoming flowers, traditional small shops, cute churches, vivid purple and white bougainvilleas and white paved alleys. In the evening, one can stroll around in one of the surrounding cafes and taverns and relax.

In the afternoon, it is ideal for someone, after spending a day at the sea, to walk around in the cobbled streets and to admire the Cycladic architecture or go for a walk in the castle. The medieval castle consists of the settlements of Mesa Kastro and Exo Kastro, which communicate with the "porters", i.e. the passages. The castle was a fortress that protected the inhabitants from the pirates’ attacks.
