marilenavlandi

Even though we consider it as a Greek peculiarity, summer cinemas are an international phenomenon, which made its appearance in Greece in the beginning of the 20th century. The case of summer cinemas proves that the development that came with the advent of private television or the development of video clubs in the 80s was not enough to destroy them as many believed at the time. The other fact that proved to be an "urban legend" was the belief that summer cinemas were a Greek phenomenon. Actually, in reality, the first summer was created by the Chinese in Chinatown, Australia. Thailand also has a tradition of summer cinemas, as well as Iraq, where the setting of the sun brought life to the sail. While in the USA the favorite "date" of the 60s was made in the summer drive-in.

A well known summer cinema is Cine Paris, which does not operate anymore, but it remains an institution, even as a memory. It was founded in 1920 by a Greek hairdresser who previously lived in Paris. He named him cine Paris. It closed due to an economic crisis in the '60s. And after 1986 it was reopened by her family until last year, the director of the cinema, Mary Panou. Her father loved cinema from a young age. He was kicked out of school and went to the movies. He was excited by the idea! His favorite movie was "Cinema Paradise". Zefyros in Ano Petralona is another notorious summer cinema. It began to operate In the mid-1950s and quickly it became a "variety show" where one could see the biggest stars of the theater.luxury hotels athens Next to it was the "bohemian" scene played by Karagiozis. It started by the husband of the current owner Mrs. Mouzakioti and made a profile of pure cinephile.
