The sulfur mines of Milos, even though they have a rather long history, very few are the people that actually know about them. One certain thing when traveling to this particular island is that the visitor makes a journey back in time, even if it is only with their imagination. That was a site of great interest and importance. However, nowadays it is completely deserted. Gradually, as the years passed by, the mining and exploitation of sulfur became even more popular and of great demand from the local economy and from other places in Greece and abroad. efining and so the exploitation abruptly stopped. That was the end of the sulfur mines of Milos which now look like a ghost attraction on the island. Greece has a great number of strange places that one may possibly think of and it often is a source of big surprise to discover something new. Along the mountains, villages and islands of the country one can find a great deal of small and big treasures that are hidden and that have a special and interesting history to tell.
