Kos is the third largest Dodecanese island and one of Greece's most popular tourist destinations. Amazing kos hotels, important archaeological sites and unique historical sights from various periods, picturesque villages, and a long and wonderful coastline with beaches for all tastes, from endless golden sands to well-hidden bays, can all be found here. You will not be disappointed if you choose Kos for your vacation.
Kos Center will quickly become your favorite location. Important ancient Kos finds have been excavated between the castle, Aktis Miaoulis, Ippokratous Street, Eleftheria Square, and Aktis Kountouriotou. This area of town, except for some of the best kos hotels, also is ideal for walking because there are numerous places to stop for coffee or shopping in between.
Kos has an abundance of beaches, the majority of which are organized. There are, however, more secluded places to bathe for the more solitary type. In general, the island is distinguished by beaches and a long coastline. Paradise beach is the island's most famous and busiest beach. This is the beach that leaves no one disappointed, with thick gray sand and gradually deepening waters. You'll sip your coffee in one of the nearby beach bars, try out some water sports, and end up in one of the area's many taverns.
Don’t neglect to ask kos hotels personnel about the Hippocrates plane tree, which is located near the ancient market of Kos and very close to the castle of Nerantzia. Hippocrates is said to have planted it and taught his students in its shade. When he saved Athens from a cholera epidemic, Hippocrates became famous throughout the ancient world and beyond the borders of Greece. Even after 2400 years, the tree continues to grow new branches and green leaves. Because the tree can no longer support the weight, supports have been installed around it. Two fountains from the Ottoman Empire stand next to the sycamore tree.
