Caviar is thought to be the food of royalty, kings and queens. Thus, it must be treated as such. Although it may seem too much to say, those who know all about caviar stress the fact that it is not to be eaten but only to be tasted! And it is no wonder that he who will try it for the first time, will not necessarily become an advocate at once.
Caviar has some peculiarities when it comes to its consumption. In order for someone to really enjoy it, they must chill it in the appropriate way so that it preserves its freshness. It is very very sensiti
ve to the temperature differences. A good way to preserve it is in the refrigerator but in no way inside the freezer. If one wants to serve caviar, he must keep in mind that chilled glass dishes (bowls) must be used, and ideally made of crystal. The bowl must be located on crushed ice so that its fresh flavour will be captured. Also, great importance must be placed on the spoons to be used. They should be made from mother of pearl, ivory or tortoise shell. Anything other ordinary materials, such as metal spoons (especially made of silver) may react with the caviar and ruin its taste by creating a metallic taste. This culinary delicacy is a divine food and must really be treated as such.
