Omonia square is the emblem of the center of Athens. The space was finally formed into a square in 1846 and was initially named Palace Square and then Othonos Square. In 1862 it was renamed Omonia Square, when the leaders of the rival political parties gathered in this area and took an oath of "unity". In 1864 it was renamed Othonos Square in honor of the king.
