VERDI FESTIVAL ITALY - 2023
The Verdi Opera Festival commemorates the life and legacy of Giuseppe Verdi, one of Italy's most cherished and esteemed composers. Held in the composer's hometown of Parma, Italy, the festival showcases a selection of his most renowned works. Join opera enthusiasts from around the world to witness awe-inspiring performances, set against breathtaking venues, and steeped in the rich history of Verdi's music. The festival is a true celebration of the art of opera and promises an unforgettable experience for music, culture, and history aficionados alike.
This year, the Verdi festival tour presents an exciting lineup, featuring five performances. The tour kicks off with Mozart's opera 'Le Nozze di Figaro' at the renowned Teatro alla Scala. In Parma, three of Verdi's masterpieces will be showcased. 'Il Trovatore' will be conducted by Francesco Ivan Ciampa, featuring Eleonora Buratto as Leonora and Riccardo Massi as Maurico. 'Falstaff' will be led by Alessandro Palumbo, with Franco Vassallo taking on the role of Sir John Falstaff.
'I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata' will be conducted by Francesco Lanzillotta, with Lidia Fridman as Giselda, Antonio Poli as Oronte, Michele Pertusi as Pagano, and Giovanni Sala as Arvino. Additionally, the rarely performed opera 'Le Comte Ory' by Rossini will be presented at Teatro Comunale Nouveau in Bologna.

This awe-inspiring opera event promises an immersive experience of Wagner's magnum opus like never before. Under the expert baton of conductor Philippe Jordan, the Bühnenfestspiel orchestra will bring Wagner's legendary music to life, creating an unforgettable resonance within your soul.
As the curtains rise, you will find yourself amidst a Wagnerian realm where gods, heroes, and mythical creatures collide. The virtuoso Tomasz Konieczny assumes the role of Wotan, while the enthralling Anja Kampe embodies the fierce and iconic Brünnhilde. Embark on a cultural voyage to Budapest, a city where history and culture intertwine gracefully along the banks of the Danube. From May 17 to May 18, immerse yourself in the enchanting realm of opera with two exceptional performances. First, revel in the comic brilliance of Donizetti's "Fille Du Regiment," a masterpiece that promises to evoke laughter and joy. The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk - Dmitri Shostakovich - Athens
The Greek National Opera is bringing back one of its most celebrated productions from recent years. Following its enthusiastic reception by Athens audiences in 2019, the iconic 20th-century opera "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk," a stunning masterpiece by Dmitri Shostakovich, will grace the stage of the Stavros Niarchos Hall at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center on October 21, 24, 27, 31, and November 5, 9, 2023. The accomplished Fabrizio Ventura will be conducting, while the successful staging of the production is led by Fanny Ardant, collaborating with a distinguished international creative team. This remarkable opera production has been made possible through a generous grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), dedicated to enriching the artistic endeavors of the Greek National Opera (GNO).
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is a development situated in the Faliro Bay in Athens, comprising modern facilities for the National Library of Greece (NLG) and the Greek National Opera (GNO), alongside the expansive Stavros Niarchos Park spanning 210,000 m2 (2,300,000 sq ft). Renowned architect Renzo Piano conceptualized the center, with funding provided by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
